“… and if you see any of this lot, run!”
The Hadlow Down TN22 lunch-club for seniors heard all about Sussex Traditions’ story-so-far and what can be done to help the charity preserve old memories, stories, sayings and songs. One gentleman, born nearby and still living in the same house, told how his father had come from outside the area and was always so intrigued by local expressions and peculiar terms that he wrote them down – and our friend still has those documents. “It would be such a shame for them to just be lost forever,” he said, and is arranging to send us copies. Similar conversations were had during recent visits to Michelham Priory and Hapstead Hall – it just goes to show, people care about this stuff.
